Weekend reading list: 1.31.25
Plus, a peek at my spring 2025 wish list and some outfit inspo with them in action!
FASHION
I was saddened to hear Didier Ludot is closing his store in Paris after 50 years as one of the city's top vintage couture boutiques! He sat down with the New York Times to discuss why he's shuttering his business and WOW, this guy is an amazing story teller! He talks about his legendary clientele, how he sourced pieces, and ultimately why there's no joy left for him in the industry. His love for fashion is palpable, it makes me so sad to hear how the industry has changed and — along with it — his relationship with customers! It's just not what it used to be!
DATING & RELATIONSHIPS
I've pretty much given up on the apps, so is it time I turn my attention to matchmaking? (Kind of kidding, but also maybe not?) I was pretty fascinated to read about the world of luxury matchmaking — services start around $25,000 and can go up to $100,000+! They do tons of research, scouting, dating coaching, photoshoots, and sometimes even psychotherapy for clients as part of the investment. It's not uncommon for matchmaking services to offer free memberships to women (while men pay), so may be worth considering if you're looking for a new dating avenue!
CAREER
How are you supposed to dress for the job you want if you either don't understand or don't love fashion? Enter corporate image stylists! In a post-pandemic world, the lines between business and causal have never been blurrier, and more and more women are turning to stylists to help them refresh their wardrobes, boost their confidence, and climb the corporate ladder! I've always believed fashion and career go hand-in-hand, so I love to see it being embraced!

INDUSTRY NEWS
Mytheresa announced they're changing the name of their holding group to LuxExperience as part of their acquisition of Yoox Net-a-porter! The Mytheresa retail brand (and website) will still keep the name. While on the surface this doesn't seem that interesting or exciting, it certainly indicates the company's ambition to become a digital/e-commerce powerhouse! Once the acquisition is finalized Mytheresa, Net-a-Porter, the Outnet, and Yoox will all be under the same parent company. After the loss of Matches Fashion last spring, I hope these luxury e-tailers survive!
ENTERTAINMENT
The Oscars are about a month away, so here's a handy guide on how to watch all the nominated films! (Also I just noticed this will be the 97th Academy Award, I can't believe the 100th is only a few years away!) Did you see what Ariana Grande posted in response to her nomination? So sweet. With all the hype around Wicked I was expecting to be disappointed but I absolutely loved it! I really hope the movie (and amazing actors) come away with a couple of wins!
SPRING 2025 WISH LIST
Happy Friday! Even though spring still feels sort of far off, over the last couple of weeks I've really narrowed down my wish list for the season ahead. I thought it might be fun to share some of the trends and pieces catching my eye + some outfit inspo with them in action! While we got a hint that banana yellow was having a comeback last year, this coming season it is everywhere. I love the look of a classic coat in a statement color, like this Nanushka Ruta coat I ordered earlier this week. You can also find this sweet-but-striking shade in the form of handbags at Khaite and Jacquemus, flats at Le Monde Beryl, sneakers at Dolce Vita, and clothing at Ulla Johnson, Toteme, Lisa Yang, Allude, Magda Butrym, Doen and more! I ordered quite a few pieces in this color this week, so you may see me in some monochrome yellow looks this season!
This Toteme jacket from THE EDIT this week is also on my wish list, but it's not just for spring - it's absolutely a style that would be useful most months out of the year. If neutrals are more your jam, a couple of other items on my wish list you might enjoy are this Alaia Le Teckel bag, this tuck-in collar for layering under sweaters, these beige velvet slippers, and this Armarium top.
