I’ve always been insecure about my hair. Especially in an industry (and well, society) that celebrates lustrous, thick locks, my fine hair and wimpy ponytail just can’t compete. I personally believe simply having great hair catapulted a number of early bloggers and influencers to fame and success - just think back to the Pinterest days of yore! Remember those cozy inspo photos and outfit shots that didn’t even show a picture of the subject’s face, but focused almost entirely on their cascading curls and thick tresses? Those images got re-pinned thousands of times. And while I’d re-pin them myself, I had no business trying to recreate those looks. My hair could never!

Having thick strands gives you more flexibility with different hair styles - soft curls, messy buns, braids, a chic pony and even those awful top knots of the early 2010s require a lot of hair to actually look good, and the thicker the better. Despite trying all kinds of volumizing products, tools and techniques over the years, my hair just doesn’t do what I want it to most of the time. My mom has beautiful, thick hair and sadly I did not inherit those genes!

Over the past year or so, I’ve been putting more focus on improving the overall quality and health of my hair, and I wanted to share what’s been working! Keep scrolling for a review of the supplement I’ve been taking for the last year, a video tutorial of how to put in a Halo extension piece, before-and-after photos, my favorite tools and products, and inspo photos I’m taking to my next hair appointment for cut and color! Let’s just say there’ll be some changes around these parts…
