EVERYTHING I BOUGHT IN PARIS
I arrived back home from my Paris trip late Monday afternoon, and boy did I bring home some treasures! Some were sale finds, others were special designer vintage scores, and some were just random things I saw and liked. Keep scrolling to see what made the cut to bring back to the states!
Outside of visiting individual designer boutiques, my favorite place to shop in Paris is Le Bon Marché! The selections are so well curated and I always find something unique and special. This find just so happened to be on MAJOR sale! While perusing the designer sale floor, I spotted this sickening cutout Courrèges blazer. They only had a 34 and 36 available, and I figured the 36 would be too small - I can wear a 36 in certain brands, but French designers are known for running on the smaller side! I decided to try it anyway, and I’m SO glad I did. It is a snug fit, but it definitely fits! I plan to wear this piece as a top - it’s such a cool, fashion-forward look that will fit right in on my nights out in New York City! The strap across my chest features snap button closures, and I may need to have my tailor add a hidden hook-and-eye just in case. I wouldn’t want the ladies popping out in public! After doing some digging, I did find this jacket available on The List in a 36, 38 and a 40 - I’ve never shopped at that store before, so get acquainted with the return policy before ordering.
After a full afternoon of designer vintage shopping, we made one final stop to Valois Vintage where I found this incredible Dior dress from 2012! It features a combination of silk and wool, so it is definitely meant for the fall/winter season. I just thought the silhouette was a knockout and it fit me like a glove! It’ll be something I reach for year after year for any number of events or parties I may have on the calendar. Obsessed! By the way, definitely add Valois Vintage to your list if you’re interested in shopping vintage/re-sale Chanel and Hermes bags… they’ve got a great selection!
I found these Louis Vuitton trousers at Open Dressing, a designer vintage boutique in the Marais. Of all the designer vintage stores in that area, this one was the best. These beige pants feature gold button details and Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram in a loop detail by the pocket! The pants were tailored to be shorter and they currently hit just above the floor when I’m wearing flats. There’s quite a bit of excess fabric in the hem, so I may see if my tailor can add just a tiny bit of length! I’d love to be able to wear them with a low heel.
How darling is this scalloped shirt + short set I found at Claudie Pierlot! The label is one of my favorites to shop when I’m in the UK or France, mostly because you can’t buy it here in the US. I’d say it’s comparable to Maje or Sandro in terms of price, but I find the quality is WAY better at Claudie Pierlot than at the aforementioned two. The styles are so chic and super wearable too! I ended up wearing this set on my last day in Paris because it had gotten so hot. It was the perfect breezy set for brunch and an afternoon wandering the flea market! I’ve already taken it to the dry cleaner so I can wear it again ASAP.
I tend to wear mostly jeans in New York, pretty much year round! It’s just what I am most comfortable and confident in I guess… but I’ve been trying to branch out a bit by buying more skirts and trousers to pair with my favorite tops and sweaters. It’s always nice to mix things up! I saw this midi skirt at Claudie Pierlot and thought it would make an excellent option to style with items like my favorite Khaite top, Banana Republic cami and go-to Zara tee while it’s still warm, then style with sweaters like this or this come the fall/winter/spring seasons!
While shopping around the Marais, we popped into a sunglasses store called Jimmy Fairly! It’s a French label and they do a variety of stylish silhouettes priced at $150. I was particularly drawn to the Elvie - a modern oval frame in dark tortoise. They are SO chic! They’re definitely going to be my new go-to, everyday shades. Click here to check out some of their other styles - and yes, they do ship to the US! I also tried on this pair in cream and loved them, but not as much as I loved the Elvie. See below for a picture of me in them!
A peek at me in my new sunglasses AND the cheeky tee I bought at Alysi! Alysi is a new-to-me Italian label known for their effortless separates and sets. I happened upon their Paris boutique while walking around in the Saint Germain area and was really digging the whole vibe in their shop. In addition to a variety of breezy silk and linen separates + dresses, they had a few cheeky tees like this one! There was a similar style in a longer cut with the word “t-shirt” embellished with beads, but I prefer the relaxed look and cropped cut of this tee. Sadly there’s only a large left online - I’m in the small! But check out more of their gorgeous collection here.
Last but not least, I picked up a new mug to add to my collection at Cafe de Flore! We had brunch there on Sunday and it’s always a favorite of mine when I visit Paris, so it felt wrong not to get one. You can see what’s available to purchase on the second floor of the restaurant! All of the items are in a glass case - just tell the woman behind the desk next to the kitchen downstairs what you want and they’ll package it up for you. Super easy!
